Aurora Early Learning Center

The new Aurora Early Learning Center needed books for children with few other reading resources. The center is part of One Hope United with the mission of protecting children and strengthening families. They advance this mission by providing a diverse array of prevention, intervention and community-based support programs to vulnerable, high-risk populations, as well as education and advocacy on the local, state and national levels.

Altrusa Fox Valley contributed 29 new books selected by the facility primarily for pre-school children soon after the facility opened in September 2011. Each was stamped with a notation that it was “Donated by Altrusa International, Fox Valley IL.”

Again in April 2012 we purchased and donated 16 Easter themed books to the center. The center presents each child a book of their own on their birthday. President Pat Frieders and Service Chair Lynda Dorsch made the presentation.

A highlight of our May 2013 meeting was the presentation of more children's books to Lynda Dorsch for the Aurora Early Learning Center.
